The Best of Houses

While we’re on the subject of Hrothgar, hubris, homes and harmony, I wonder what you make of this tribute to the mother of all Mead-Halls, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. (I tried to embed it but it is forbidden–link below.) It’s pretty gorgeous. BONUS: it’s set to Smetana’s “The Moldau,” part of his Ma Vlast (“My Fatherland”) and one of my faves, mainly because I participated in a Music Memory contest in fifth grade in which we were taught to recognize this piece by singing “We’re rowing on the MOLD-ow, MOLD-ow, now. We’re ro-wing on the Mo-old-ow, Mol-dow now.” Try it:
